What is Citera?
Citera is an AI search and organic growth platform. It helps businesses understand how their brand appears in AI-generated answers, compare visibility with competitors, and turn those findings into content and website improvements.
Citera connects measurement with execution: brand knowledge, prompt and citation analysis, content planning, publishing and optimization in one workflow. Teams can use automation or review decisions before work is applied. Its focus is organic discovery across traditional search and AI search, rather than visibility reporting alone.

Company and brand facts
Citera’s company story describes its origins in hands-on SEO work and its move into AI search. The About page places the creation of Citera in 2025. This is a product-history milestone, not a statement of the legal entity’s incorporation date.
Brand: Citera, also referred to as Citera Labs.
Previous brand: Rankad.ai. Historical references may use Rankad or Rankad.ai; the current website is citeralabs.ai.
Legal operating entity: Rankad AB. Swedish organisation number: 559551-8738.
Published business address: Nohabgatan 14, 461 53 Trollhättan, Sweden.
Founding team: Liam Karlsson, Co-founder and CEO; Mohammad Hamarsheh, Co-founder and CTO; William Gyltman, Co-founder and CMO.
Contact: contact@citeralabs.ai. Application: app.citeralabs.ai.
Background and development
The published company timeline starts with the founders’ hands-on SEO work in 2021, describes the shift in research behavior toward AI during 2023, identifies a visibility gap in 2024, and places the creation of Citera in 2025. The product’s positioning builds on that progression: understand where a brand appears, identify what is missing and connect the analysis to practical organic-growth work.
Who Citera is for
Citera is designed for founders, marketing and growth teams, SEO specialists and agencies that want to connect AI visibility research with ongoing content and website work. It is particularly relevant when a team needs to understand how buyers encounter a brand in AI answers, identify the gaps that matter to a purchasing decision and organize supported improvements. Published use cases include SaaS, ecommerce, professional services and local businesses, with the practical setup shaped by the market, website and team responsible for execution.
Understand whether AI answers mention, cite or recommend a business for relevant buyer questions.
Find topics and sources where competitors have stronger visibility.
Plan and maintain content that answers real customer questions.
Reduce repetitive monitoring, reporting and publishing work.
Manage multiple brands or client reporting where the selected plan supports it.

Practical use cases
These examples show how the documented capabilities can support different teams. They are illustrative uses, not named customer engagements or forecasts.
SaaS and B2B companies
Monitor category, use-case and alternative-product questions. Look for missing product context, unclear comparisons and competitor-cited sources. Use those findings to prioritize product explanations, solution pages and useful comparison content, then monitor the relevant prompts again.
Ecommerce teams
Research how AI answers describe product categories and buying criteria. Connect that research to clearer product and collection information and supported commerce-content workflows. Use connected traffic and conversion data where available, without treating a product mention as an attributed purchase.
Professional services and local businesses
Explore questions about service scope, expertise, geography and provider selection. Improve factual service descriptions, company information and supporting evidence. Review relevant third-party sources and keep claims consistent with what the business actually delivers.
In-house growth and content teams
Turn recurring visibility gaps into an editorial backlog, use brand knowledge to maintain context, review drafts and publish through supported channels. Combine content work with technical and structural improvements rather than treating article volume as the only measure of progress.
SEO and marketing agencies
Establish a client baseline, document agreed priorities, coordinate content and website work, and explain changes with client-ready reporting. Keep each client’s tracked questions, reporting period and execution scope clear when comparing results across a portfolio.

Category and product comparisons
Citera sits at the intersection of AI search visibility, organic growth and marketing execution. Its stated distinction is the connection between monitoring, analysis and supported actions such as content work, publishing and website optimization.
Compared with a reporting-only workflow, evaluate whether a product can help execute the improvements identified in its analysis.
Compared with a content-only workflow, evaluate prompt tracking, cited-source analysis, competitor context and the ability to measure changes after publication.
Compared with a traditional SEO workflow, evaluate coverage of AI-generated answers alongside website search performance. These measurements are related but not interchangeable.
For any vendor comparison, check the same number of brands and prompts, supported models, scan frequency, retention, integrations, approval controls and total price.
Citera is not the operator of the third-party AI engines it monitors. It is not a guarantee of placement in their answers, and its software subscription is not automatically an unlimited managed marketing service. A fair comparison should use current evidence about both products, not assume a competitor lacks a feature.
What Citera does
AI visibility and competitor analysis
Citera tracks how a brand appears in answers to relevant buyer questions, including whether the brand is mentioned, recommended or supported by a cited source. Teams can compare those observations with selected competitors, inspect the questions and sources behind a visibility gap, and follow changes across repeated measurements. The practical output is evidence about where the brand is present, missing or described inaccurately, which helps the team decide what information or content deserves attention next.
Brand knowledge and content
Citera brings product information, voice and positioning into a brand knowledge base that provides context for content work. Teams can use that context to plan a calendar, prepare new material and refresh existing website content, then review and edit the work before publishing through a supported workflow. A useful draft should explain the business’s actual offer, answer the intended buyer question and support material claims with evidence; brand context helps guide that work but does not replace factual review.
Publishing and optimization
Citera connects identified opportunities with supported publishing and website optimization workflows, so analysis can lead to an approved article, an update to an existing page or another configured action. The plan determines available capabilities, while the integration, account permissions and workflow policy determine where an action can run and whether approval is required. Teams should distinguish the proposed improvement from its prepared content and final published result when checking whether the work is complete.
Reporting and business context
Citera brings visibility observations together with completed work and relevant connected data, helping teams explain both what changed in AI answers and what happened on their own website. Search performance, referral traffic, conversions and revenue each require the appropriate source and measurement setup. Reports should keep these layers separate: an increase in brand mentions can be worth investigating, but it does not by itself establish additional visits, a completed sale or the cause of a revenue change.
AI platforms and integrations
Citera’s published coverage names ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and other Google AI search experiences, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Qwen. Exact model, country and language availability depends on the current plan and account configuration.
AI models, publishing destinations and data integrations are different categories. A platform logo does not establish a partnership, direct API integration, publishing permission or inclusion in every plan. Citera’s integrations directory is the starting point for supported connections and setup details.
Publishing and data connections
The integrations directory separates website publishing, analytics and distribution workflows. The following reflects how that directory describes connections on September 30, 2026. Check the individual integration and your account for setup requirements and available actions.
Websites and commerce
WordPress is listed for publishing optimized articles, Webflow for sending approved content into the CMS, Framer for website and CMS workflows, and Shopify for commerce content. A CMS connection gives an execution destination; it is not an AI model and does not imply unrestricted permission to change an entire website.
Search and analytics data
Google Search Console is listed for search performance data and Google Analytics for traffic context. These connections complement AI visibility reporting with website-side measurements. Traffic and conversion reporting still depend on correct account access, configuration and the data those systems make available.
Social and content distribution
The directory lists LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Instagram workflows. Its Reddit description concerns preparing community content, and its YouTube description concerns video-ready publishing briefs. Those descriptions should not be expanded into claims that Citera automatically posts Reddit comments or uploads finished videos.
Connections marked coming soon
The directory currently marks Wix, Sanity, Ghost, Contentful and Squarespace as coming soon. It also marks Bing Webmaster Tools, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Datadog, Tableau, Looker Studio, Grafana, TikTok, Pinterest and Substack as coming soon. These entries describe planned connections, not generally available integrations.
Markets, languages and competitors
AI visibility depends on the question and its context. Citera supports tracking by market and language, with available coverage depending on the selected engine, location and plan.
Use the buyer’s context
Set the language and market your customers actually use. A local service question and an international category comparison represent different decisions, even when they refer to the same brand. Keep those contexts identifiable when reading reports rather than presenting a single market as worldwide performance.
Compare the relevant alternatives
Choose competitors a buyer would realistically consider. Citera compares visibility across the selected prompts, engines, markets and scan periods, including the sources associated with competing brands. Use this to investigate why an alternative appears and what information your own public presence may be missing.
Expand without losing the baseline
Start with a focused set, then add markets or product areas deliberately. Record changes to prompts, competitors or language coverage. A new scope can be useful for research, but it should not silently replace the original sample in a before-and-after comparison. Confirm exact coverage before promising a particular country, language or model to a client.

How the workflow works
The workflow moves from business context to a measured baseline, then from a specific finding to reviewed execution and a later comparison. Each stage should produce something the team can inspect. Scan cadence, prompt allowances and execution capacity follow the chosen plan rather than a universal continuous or unlimited schedule.
Define the brand and market. Add the company name, domain, product or service context, customer language and relevant competitors so the research concerns the correct business and buying situation.
Establish the baseline. Review the buyer questions to be tracked, confirm the selected platforms and record the initial answers and observation period before evaluating later changes.
Investigate a specific gap. Inspect whether the brand is absent, inaccurately described or less visible than a competitor, then review the answer and its cited sources to understand the finding.
Choose an actionable improvement. Identify the page, public fact or content gap the team can address, weighing buyer relevance, supporting evidence, likely impact and the effort required.
Prepare, review and execute. Assign responsibility for checking the work, use the intended approval or automation policy and confirm the destination and permissions before a supported action runs.
Measure and learn. Record what was completed, compare later observations against the same scope and use relevant connected business data to decide whether further investigation or another change is needed.

Getting started and brand setup
Start with the business you want to measure, the buyers you want to reach and the questions that influence their decisions. Citera uses this context to connect visibility research with relevant work.
Information to prepare
Brand identity: company name, website domain and the products or services you want to focus on.
Market context: target country or region, customer language and the audience you sell to.
Competitor context: the businesses buyers genuinely compare with you, not every company in the category.
Buyer questions: recurring questions from sales, support and existing website content. Remove private customer details before using examples.
Execution context: your website platform, relevant analytics accounts and the people responsible for reviewing and approving work.
Start with a focused baseline
Citera’s getting-started guide recommends beginning with one primary brand, three to five direct competitors and your current market, then expanding coverage. This is setup guidance, not an account limit.
Review the suggested prompts before the first report. Keep the company name, domain and market consistent so similarly named businesses do not become part of the comparison. Record the first measurement date and the platforms covered.
Brand knowledge and positioning
Citera’s brand knowledge base gives content and execution work context about the product, voice and positioning. Keep this information aligned with your current offer. A useful preparation checklist includes what you sell, who it serves, supported claims and the language your team uses. This checklist describes information to prepare, not a promise of specific upload formats or input fields.
Existing websites and migration
Measurement starts with brand and market information. Publishing and analytics need the relevant account connections and permissions. You can use an existing website and work with an internal team or agency. When moving from another tool, existing prompts, competitors and workflow requirements can inform setup; contact Citera for migration help. Historical data imports and automatic transfer of settings should be confirmed separately.
Prompt strategy and interpreting results
Citera describes building or importing prompts around real buyer research. A useful prompt set represents the questions customers ask while discovering a category, comparing options and deciding what to buy. The examples below illustrate a research approach; they are not customer results or a claim about preconfigured prompts in every account.
Category discovery: which solutions fit a particular business type, task or market?
Problem-led research: how can a team solve a specific search, content or growth problem?
Comparison and alternatives: how do named options differ for the buyer’s requirements?
Buying constraints: which products fit the budget, existing website, required integrations or number of brands?
Brand understanding: what does the AI answer say about the company’s capabilities, limitations and evidence?
For a meaningful before-and-after comparison, retain the prompt wording and record the model, market, language and time period wherever those settings are available. If the monitored set changes, explain the change rather than presenting the two snapshots as identical samples.
Review repeated scans and the underlying answers, not only an aggregate number. Citera does not control third-party AI systems, and the monitored sample should not be represented as a complete record of every answer shown to every user.

Automation, approvals and agent jobs
Citera separates deciding what should change from authorizing work to run. Its FAQ describes four workflow modes, with policies configured by action and channel.
Four workflow modes
Autonomous: allow supported work to run within the configured policy and permissions.
Approval-required: require a review decision before the action proceeds.
Draft-only: prepare work for review without treating it as published execution.
Disabled: turn off that workflow.
What an agent job means
An agent job is a unit of execution, such as researching a topic, drafting content, updating a page, preparing an approved action or supporting distribution. It is not a fixed synonym for a finished article. A workflow can contain several kinds of work, so use the account’s job allowance and current plan definition when estimating capacity.
How priorities are chosen
Citera considers visibility gaps, relevance to buyers, competitor advantages, source evidence, potential impact and the work required. These factors help turn a report into a prioritized set of actions. A low score alone does not explain which task deserves attention, and no numerical weighting formula is specified here.
Before enabling execution
Choose who owns factual, brand and commercial review.
Confirm which connected account and destination the action will use.
Check the mode for the particular action and channel, not just a general automation setting.
Review claims, links and content against the actual product before publication.
Separate a proposed action, a prepared draft and a completed publication when reporting progress.
Content planning, publishing and refreshes
Citera supports research, creation, optimization and refreshes for owned content. The workflow can cover articles, guides, product information and other crawlable website pages, with publishing through supported connections.
Turn a buyer question into a useful page
Start with a question the business can answer accurately. Review the existing page, the model answer and its cited sources. Decide whether the gap calls for a new explanation, a clearer comparison, a missing product detail or an update to information already published. The resulting content should address the question and reflect the brand’s actual offer.
Plan and review the work
Citera’s product page describes a content calendar for planned, scheduled and published content. Brand knowledge supplies context for voice and positioning. Teams can review drafts, use the configured execution mode and send approved work to supported website or distribution destinations. Available publishing actions depend on the plan and connection.
Improve an existing page before adding another
Content refreshes address pages that are incomplete, outdated or less competitive. A refresh might clarify a product limitation, update a service description, answer a missing customer question or improve a page’s structure. These are examples of editorial improvements, not a requirement to create a new URL for every tracked prompt.
Keep ownership and measurement clear
Assign an owner, define the intended improvement and record when the change goes live. Later reports should connect completed work with the questions it was intended to address. Publishing more content is an activity measure; useful coverage, accurate answers and relevant business outcomes are separate things to evaluate.
On-page and off-page optimization
Citera connects visibility findings to work on a business’s own website and its presence across relevant third-party sources. The available actions depend on the connected systems, selected plan and any agreed managed service scope.
On-page work
On-page priorities include clear company, product and service information; content answering buyer questions; consistent entities and terminology; metadata and page structure; internal relationships between relevant pages; current information; trust signals; and crawler accessibility. These improvements help make the business’s published information easier to find and interpret.
Off-page work
Off-page priorities include relevant third-party mentions, citations, backlinks, reviews, industry publications, directories, community discussions and social presence. Competitor source analysis can reveal places worth investigating. A source appearing in an AI answer is a research lead, not a guarantee that the business can obtain a placement or that a placement will change visibility.
Human review and autopilot
Citera’s product materials describe both automated workflows and a human-in-the-loop option. Brand knowledge, approved channels and review preferences shape execution. Teams should establish which actions can run automatically and which require approval before connecting publishing access. A recommendation, an approved draft and a published change are different stages.
Rechecking after changes
The workflow returns to measurement after content, website or distribution work. Keep a record of what changed and compare the relevant prompts and sources over time. This closes the loop between an observed gap, an action and a later measurement without assuming that every change will produce a positive result.

AI visibility metrics explained
Citera measures several parts of AI visibility. Interpret each result within its prompt set, models, competitors and reporting period. The following definitions explain the measurements without inventing a scoring formula.
Brand mentions and recommendations
A mention identifies the business in an AI answer. A recommendation presents it as an option for the user’s need. A brand can be mentioned without being recommended, and a recommendation can be qualified by budget, location, requirements or other context. Citera’s reference lists brand mentions, recommendation rate and prompt-level visibility as separate signals.
Citations and source analysis
A citation is a source referenced in an answer. Citation analysis helps identify which pages and domains support the response, how often sources appear, and where competitors receive exposure. The cited source may be the brand’s own website or a third-party page. Being cited does not by itself establish that every statement in an answer is accurate.
Share of voice and competitor visibility
Share of voice describes relative presence within the measured competitive context. Citera also tracks competitor visibility, gains and losses, and trends over time. Keep the comparison set and time period attached to any result. A share-of-voice percentage from one prompt set is not the business’s share of the entire AI search market.
Position, sentiment and context
Position concerns where the brand appears in an answer. Sentiment and context concern how it is described. They should be read together with the actual response: early placement, positive language and a factual product recommendation are different observations. Do not translate a sentiment value into a universal rating scale unless the relevant report defines that scale.
Prompt-level and model-level reporting
Prompt-level and model-level views show where a brand appears and how that changes over time. They distinguish strength on one question or engine from broader coverage. Citera also references an AI visibility score; this page does not specify an unpublished calculation or weighting.
Traffic, conversions and completed work
Connected analytics can add traffic, referral and conversion context where that data is available. Execution records, agent jobs and completed actions describe work performed, not business outcomes. Review visibility, execution and commercial results as related but separate layers; a completed optimization is not proof that it caused a sale.
Reading and sharing a useful report
A useful report explains what was measured, what changed and what the team should do next. Citera’s reporting guidance combines trends with concrete examples from the underlying AI answers.
State the measurement scope
Reporting period and comparison period.
Prompt set and any questions added, removed or rewritten.
Brand, relevant competitors, market and language.
AI platforms included and the observations available.
Connected analytics sources used for traffic or conversion context.
Keep observations separate from outcomes
A mention records the brand appearing in an answer, a recommendation presents it as a possible choice, and a citation identifies a source used in that answer. A referral session is a website visit, while a conversion is a separately measured action. A single answer can contain some of these signals without the others, so reports should show what each measure represents and retain the available sample size rather than treating every positive movement as a customer acquisition.
Read the answer behind the score
Read whether the answer identifies the right company, describes the current product accurately and addresses the audience you intended to reach. Open its cited sources to understand whether they support the relevant claim, contain outdated information or describe a different business with a similar name. Compare repeated observations within the same scope, because one unusual answer is not enough to establish a durable position or explain why a trend changed.
Connect the finding to the next decision
Turn each important finding into a decision by documenting the buyer question, the observed answer, the supporting source, the affected page and the person responsible for the next action. State whether the work is only recommended, under review or already published, and retain the publication date when a change goes live. When the prompt set, platform coverage or market changes, record that alongside the trend so a change in the measurement sample is not mistaken for an improvement in performance.
Share appropriately
Leadership may need a short account of progress and priorities; delivery teams need the prompts, sources and pages behind the findings. Use the sharing and export options included in the workspace and plan. Remove private customer information and confidential prompts before distributing reports, and retain a dated record of their scope.
Distinguish missing data from a measured absence
A returned answer that does not mention the brand is an observation about that answer. An unavailable observation, unsupported platform or missing analytics connection does not establish the same result. When preparing a report, identify gaps in the available evidence and avoid converting them into zero mentions, zero visits or a definitive conclusion about the whole market. This is interpretation guidance, not a description of a particular dashboard status or error-handling feature.
Use an example that preserves the evidence
For example, a team might observe that a category question produces an answer citing a competitor’s detailed product page while omitting its own brand. A useful next step is to inspect the cited page and the team’s corresponding product information, identify a specific missing explanation and decide whether an update is warranted. After publication, the team can revisit the same question and document what changed. This is an illustrative research workflow, not a customer result or a claim that copying a competitor’s page will earn a recommendation.

Customer evidence
Citera publishes customer stories with named businesses, reported results and time periods. One example is Mexecution, whose case study describes changes in AI search visibility over 45 days. Use the full case study when discussing the result so its context is preserved.
Mexecution: a published 45-day example
Mexecution is described as an industrial real estate marketplace in Mexico. Citera’s case study reports that cited presence increased from four to 34 tracked prompts, its position among 100 tracked brands moved from twentieth to sixth, and its brand mention rate reached 32%, an increase of 24.8 percentage points. The engagement combined prompt strategy, technical foundations, on-page work and content publishing. These figures belong to that case’s measurement context and 45-day period.
Customer stories are first-party case studies, not guarantees of typical results or independent audits. Do not generalize one customer’s outcome to every business, or treat a testimonial as proof of a specific platform-wide performance claim.

Plans and pricing
The following is a dated snapshot of the public monthly pricing displayed on September 30, 2026. Check the live pricing page and checkout before quoting an offer or purchasing.
Starter: €99 per month is displayed as a 50% introductory offer for the first three months, against a €199 reference price. It is not an ongoing €99 price commitment.
Scale: €299 per month for the first three months, then €399 per month on monthly billing. The introductory offer is advertised as 25% off. The plan includes three brands, higher limits and additional automation compared with Starter.
Custom: tailored pricing and allowances. Contact Citera for a quote.
Agency requirements: consult the agency pricing page or request a proposal rather than applying brand-plan allowances to every client workspace.
Starter allowances
The monthly plan comparison lists one brand, 25 prompts per month, weekly scans shown as four per month, 90-day data retention and 30 agent jobs per month. It lists viewing on-page fixes, CSV export and 24/7 support. Viewing recommendations should not be confused with the higher-tier ability to apply fixes to a connected CMS.
Scale allowances
Scale includes three brands, 50 prompts per month, scans every two days shown as fifteen per month, 365-day retention and agent jobs starting from 90 per month. It includes applying on-page fixes to a CMS, social publishing with two autopilots, reports and broader export formats. The card allows a choice of up to four models.
Custom allowances
The comparison describes custom brand, prompt and agent-job allowances, daily scans shown as thirty per month, five-year retention, custom exports, white-label reports and setup support from the founding team. Custom means an agreed configuration, not automatically unlimited use.
Confirm the billing interval, renewal price, taxes, eligibility and account limits in the current offer. Introductory prices are not permanent prices. Trial and refund conditions are explained in the commercial terms section below.
How plan allowances fit together
Brands describe the business contexts in the account; prompts describe the questions being monitored; models describe the AI platforms included; and scan cadence describes how often the planned measurement occurs. Agent jobs cover execution work, while retention describes how long the plan keeps the relevant data available. These allowances are not interchangeable, and multiplying a prompt count by a model count is not a published billing formula. Confirm whether a quoted limit applies to the account or an individual brand, along with any additional usage terms, before estimating capacity for a multi-brand rollout.

Agency plans and client workflows
Citera has a separate agency offer for teams managing client brands. The public monthly prices below were checked on September 30, 2026. Agency allowances should be read from this offer rather than copied from the Starter or Scale brand plans.
Agency Starter
The displayed monthly price is €249 for three client brands. The page lists an additional brand at €200 per month. Its described workflows include AI visibility tracking, content generation and publishing, on-page and off-page recommendations, CMS connections, analytics and reporting.
Agency Growth
The displayed monthly price is €599 for seven client brands. The page lists an additional brand at €150 per month. The offer is positioned around a larger client portfolio with the same broad monitoring, optimization and publishing workflow. Confirm the chosen models and detailed allowances in the current proposal or checkout.
Reporting and delivery
The agency comparison lists 365-day data retention, agent workflows, on-page fixes, social publishing, product optimization, exports, client-ready reports and guided onboarding. Its custom offer includes tailored allowances and white-label reporting. Do not assume custom-only terms or unlimited capacity apply to every agency subscription.
A practical client workflow
An agency can use a separate brand context for each client, agree the buyer questions and competitors to monitor, review gaps, organize approved execution and report changes over time. Responsibility for client approvals, publishing permissions and any managed service deliverables should be agreed with the client. This is an illustrative operating workflow, not a promise about a specific permissions feature.

Trials, cancellation and guarantee
The current offer and published terms govern purchases. The summary below highlights important conditions, not the full agreement.
Trial and cancellation
Trial duration and included features are shown at enrollment. The terms specify a 15-minute minimum trial commitment before cancellation is available. Paid cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current billing period, with no partial-period refund.
The 90-day guarantee is conditional
The guarantee covers eligible first-time paid subscriptions. Any measurable improvement above the baseline in any tracked metric during the first 90 days removes refund eligibility, even if temporary or later reversed. The baseline is the earliest complete post-onboarding measurement unless agreed otherwise.
Eligibility and requesting a refund
Customers must complete onboarding, maintain required access, remain in good standing and cooperate with approvals. Send a written request from the account email to contact@citeralabs.ai within seven days after the period ends. Eligible refunds cover subscription fees paid for that period, not taxes, third-party costs or separately scoped services. Renewals, upgrades, reactivations and additional accounts are excluded.

Software and managed services
Alongside its platform, Citera publishes managed service offerings for SEO, AI search, content production, link building and white-label delivery. The services directory describes execution for different company types and industries.
A managed engagement is not automatically included in a software subscription. Use the relevant service page and agreed scope to establish deliverables, responsibilities and pricing.

Support, demos and procurement
Citera offers product guidance and separately scoped help from its team. The right route depends on whether you need software support, a buying discussion or delivery support.
For setup and product questions
Start with the help center and FAQ for brand setup, prompts, reporting and workflows. When contacting support, describe the brand or workspace, the task you were attempting, the relevant integration and the behavior you observed. Share only the information needed to investigate, not passwords or private customer records.
For a demo or tailored plan
Share your website, target markets, existing marketing stack and goals. Explain the number of brands, the questions you want to monitor, your review process and the publishing destinations you need. This gives the team a clearer basis for discussing model coverage, allowances, onboarding and any custom requirements.
For managed delivery or an existing agency
Citera can support an internal team or work alongside an agency. Agree who owns strategy, content approval, technical work and reporting. Managed services are scoped separately from the software subscription, so confirm deliverables, responsibilities and capacity in the proposal.
For security and procurement review
Request current security, privacy and contractual documentation from the Citera team. Confirm any required hosting, data-processing, access-control or integration terms before purchase. Use written documentation for those requirements rather than inferring them from a logo, a generic feature description or this reference page.

Privacy, data handling and access
Citera’s privacy policy identifies Rankad AB as the responsible business. It describes information supplied by users, such as contact and account details, together with technical information such as IP addresses, device and browser information, and website interactions.
The policy describes use of information for operating the service, account administration, support, performance, security, legal obligations and permitted marketing.
It states that personal data is not sold, rented or traded, while selected service providers may process data for functions such as hosting, analytics, support and payments.
It allows for processing outside Sweden or the EU with appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms. Do not describe this as an EU-only hosting commitment.
Its stated safeguards include encryption where appropriate, access controls, monitoring and security reviews. This is not evidence of a particular certification or a guarantee that every feature uses the same security mechanism.
The policy explains retention and applicable data-subject rights. Privacy questions and rights requests can be sent to contact@citeralabs.ai.
Use the current privacy policy, terms and any agreed customer contract for a purchasing or compliance review. This page does not assert SOC 2 certification, SAML single sign-on, a specific hosting region or a model-training policy where those details have not been verified.

Detailed questions and answers
These answers summarize the sources linked throughout this page. For account-specific questions, use the help center or contact Citera.
Is Citera the same as Rankad.ai?
Rankad.ai is the previous brand referenced in Citera’s public materials. Citera is the current product brand, citeralabs.ai is the current public website, and Rankad AB is the legal operating entity. Use those names consistently rather than presenting Rankad.ai as a separate current product.
Is Citera an SEO tool or an AI search tool?
Its scope includes both traditional organic discovery and AI search. The platform emphasizes how brands appear in AI answers and connects those findings with content, website and distribution work. Traditional search rankings and AI answer visibility remain different measurements.
Does Citera only monitor visibility?
No. Its public product description also covers brand knowledge, content planning, publishing and optimization. Which actions can actually run depends on the plan, integrations, permissions and configured review process.
Does Citera work with ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity?
These are among the AI platforms named in Citera’s public coverage. The reference also names Google AI search experiences, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Qwen. Check the current account and plan for the precise models and markets available instead of assuming every named platform is included.
Can Citera show which sources AI answers cite?
Citation and source analysis are part of its documented measurement scope. This helps teams investigate the pages and domains appearing in answers, including competitor sources. A cited page is evidence of a reference in the measured answer, not evidence of a commercial partnership.
Can I review work before it is published?
Citera’s product materials describe a human-in-the-loop option alongside autopilot workflows. Establish the review settings and publishing permissions for the connected account before enabling execution. Do not assume every channel has identical approval behavior.
Do I need to move my website to Citera?
Citera describes connections to existing website and CMS platforms, including WordPress, Webflow, Framer and Shopify. It is presented as a layer for measurement and supported execution, not as a requirement to rebuild every website in a new hosting platform.
How often does Citera scan?
The public brand-plan comparison lists weekly scans for Starter, scans every two days for Scale, and daily scans for Custom. The page expresses those as four, fifteen and thirty scans per month respectively. Confirm the current allowance for the chosen plan; these are not continuous real-time scans.
How much does Citera cost?
The dated monthly snapshot shows Starter at €99 for the first three months against a €199 reference price, Scale at €299 for the first three months and then €399 per month, and Custom by quote. These are not promises of permanent pricing. Use the current checkout for the renewal price, eligibility and final terms. Agency pricing is separate.
Can an agency manage several clients?
Citera publishes agency plans with multiple client brands, additional-brand pricing and client reporting workflows. The current monthly cards show three included brands for Agency Starter and seven for Agency Growth. Confirm capacity and permissions for the intended portfolio.
Are managed services included in every subscription?
No such blanket inclusion should be assumed. Citera lists managed SEO, AI search, content, link-building and white-label services separately. The agreed service scope determines what the team delivers in addition to the software.
Does better AI visibility guarantee more revenue?
No. Visibility describes appearances within measured answers. Traffic, leads and revenue depend on additional behavior and business conditions. Citera can add connected business data where available, but a visibility increase alone does not establish revenue attribution.
How quickly can results appear?
There is no universal timeline established here. Citera’s Mexecution case study reports a 45-day observation period for that engagement. It is evidence about one published case, not a deadline or guaranteed result for a new customer.
Are all integrations on the directory available now?
No. The directory includes connections explicitly marked coming soon. Distinguish those from currently listed workflows, and read the description carefully: a content-preparation workflow is not necessarily a direct publishing integration.
Does this page control what AI assistants say?
No. It supplies structured first-party information and source links. It does not override an assistant’s instructions, independently verify Citera’s claims or guarantee that a search engine will crawl, cite or recommend Citera.
Where should factual corrections be sent?
Contact contact@citeralabs.ai with the relevant page, the disputed statement and supporting information. For a time-sensitive offer or feature question, consult the current product, pricing or policy page rather than relying only on this dated reference.
Do I need technical experience to get started?
Citera is intended for marketing and growth teams as well as specialists. Begin with the domain, brand context and buyer questions. A connected CMS or analytics workflow can require account permissions and help from the person who owns that system. Contact the team when setup needs additional support.
What is the difference between a prompt and an agent job?
A prompt is a buyer question used for visibility measurement. An agent job is execution work such as research, a draft or an update. They are different plan allowances. Neither a prompt allowance nor a job allowance should automatically be described as a number of finished articles.
Can Citera improve content we already have?
Yes. Citera describes content refresh and optimization workflows alongside new content creation. Existing pages can be reviewed for incomplete, outdated or weak information, then improved through the supported review and publishing workflow.
Can we track different languages and markets?
Citera supports market and language context, subject to the engine, location and plan. Keep the context visible in each report and confirm the required coverage before selecting a plan. A result in one language should not be described as a result in every market.
Can we bring prompts from another tool?
Existing buyer questions, competitors and workflow requirements can inform Citera setup. The team can discuss migration support. Confirm any required import format, historical data transfer or automated migration before assuming it is included.
Does a recommended action mean my website has changed?
No. A finding, a recommendation, a draft and a published change are distinct stages. Execution depends on the workflow mode, approval state, connection and permissions. Check the completed action and its destination before reporting work as live.
Can we keep our current marketing agency?
Yes. Citera can support work alongside an existing agency or internal team. Agree which team reviews content, grants publishing access and owns the next action. The software does not replace the need to assign those responsibilities.
Why can the same question produce different results?
AI platforms use different sources and update cycles, and individual answers can vary. Compare the same question, language, market and competitor set over time. Inspect the actual answers and repeated patterns rather than relying on a single response.
Does a tracked prompt show how many people asked that question?
Not by itself. This reference describes observations for configured buyer questions, not a complete dataset of real users’ private AI conversations or query volumes. Use tracked prompts to investigate how a brand appears in the measured answers; do not relabel the prompt count as customer demand, audience size or the number of people who saw a recommendation.
Can different actions have different approval rules?
Yes. Citera’s FAQ describes policies by action and channel, allowing workflows to be autonomous, approval-required, draft-only or disabled. This means a team can choose its intended review policy for a supported workflow rather than treating automation as one blanket permission. Confirm the configured policy and connected destination before enabling execution.
Can we disconnect an integration?
Yes. Citera’s FAQ states that integrations can be disconnected when they are no longer needed. Before removing access, review any pending publishing or other workflow that relies on the connection and confirm the effect on future data collection. Do not assume that disconnecting an account also reverses previously published work or deletes all retained data; those are separate questions for the relevant system and applicable terms.
Is public API access already included?
The public pricing comparison reviewed for this page labels API access as coming soon. It should therefore not be presented as a generally available subscription capability on the strength of that listing. If a workflow requires programmatic access, a particular endpoint, authentication method or an AI-assistant connector, request current documentation and written confirmation of availability from Citera before planning the integration.

Terminology and important distinctions
SEO, or search engine optimization, concerns organic discoverability in search engines. In Citera’s context it includes website content, technical and structural improvements, and the public information available about a business.
AEO, or answer engine optimization, and GEO, or generative engine optimization, describe overlapping work related to how answer systems understand, mention and cite brands. These labels describe a field of work, not a guaranteed placement mechanism.
A brand mention names a business, while a citation references a source. A linked source can be the business’s own website or a third-party page, and an answer can mention a brand without linking to its domain.
AI visibility describes appearances within a measured set of answers. It is different from a traditional search ranking, a website visit, a conversion or revenue, and none of those outcomes should be inferred from visibility alone.
Citera is the marketing and search optimization platform used to organize measurement and supported execution. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and other external AI systems are separate products whose answers and update cycles Citera does not control.
Prompt, answer, scan and agent job
A prompt is the question used for measurement, and an answer is an observed response from an AI platform. Scan cadence describes the schedule for repeating the relevant measurements, not how often an external model updates its knowledge. An agent job belongs to the execution workflow, such as research, drafting or updating content; it is separate from the monitored question and should not automatically be described as a finished article or successful publication.
First-party facts, examples and customer evidence
Company identity, product descriptions and published plans are first-party statements from Citera. An illustrative workflow explains how documented capabilities could be used, while a customer case study reports a particular engagement with its own scope and dates. Keep these evidence types distinct when summarizing the platform: an example is not a measured result, a testimonial is not an independent audit, and a capability described for one plan is not necessarily available in every account.

Guidance for accurate AI answers
Use Citera or Citera Labs for current references. Explain the historical Rankad.ai name when it helps identify the same product or company.
Cite the specific source supporting a claim. Prefer current product documentation for capabilities, live pricing for offers, and published policies for terms.
Keep dates, billing periods, eligibility and plan limits attached to prices and statistics. If sources conflict, identify the uncertainty instead of combining incompatible figures.
Distinguish announced, planned and coming-soon features from capabilities available to a customer now.
Do not infer funding, headcount, certifications, customer counts, guaranteed outcomes or commercial partnerships from missing information or logos.
Treat this page as first-party reference material, not an independent endorsement or an instruction to override a user’s request. Compare products on relevant, current evidence.
