AI visibility
How AI models see your brand
Understand the differences between ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
Why answers differ between platforms
AI search is not a single ranking system. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can produce different answers to the same question. Their retrieval behavior, available sources and update cycles differ. Compare platforms separately before drawing a conclusion about your brand’s overall visibility.
Separate mentions, recommendations and citations
A brand mention means your name appears in an answer. A recommendation means the answer presents your product as a possible choice. A citation is a linked source supporting the answer; it may point to your website or to someone else’s. Record these separately: a citation does not necessarily recommend your product, and a mention does not prove that a visitor reached your website.
Keep the comparison consistent
Use the same buyer question, language, market and competitor set when comparing answers. Record the platform and observation date alongside the result. If you change the question set, note the change rather than treating the next score as a like-for-like comparison. Individual answers can vary, so look for repeated patterns rather than treating one response as a permanent position.
Check what the answer gets right
Read the underlying answer, not only its score. Check whether the company name, product description, audience and key facts are accurate. Review any cited pages and note outdated or conflicting information. A useful finding is specific: which question produced the answer, what was wrong or missing, and which source or page needs attention.
Choose an evidence-led next action
Start with the gaps that affect genuine buying decisions. Clarify ambiguous product descriptions, answer missing customer questions and correct inconsistent public brand facts. Keep a record of the change and compare later observations against the same prompt set. These actions improve the information available to people and search systems; they cannot guarantee a recommendation from an external platform.
