Capabilities and access
Documentation reviewed on 22 October 2026. This is a documentation check, not a test in your connected account. Capabilities, required permissions and plan availability can evolve. Confirm details marked unverified before relying on them.
Current support
Live · CMS publishing
Read access and data
Existing post content for supported edits; exact additional fields require confirmation.
Drafting, publishing and updates
Draft and scheduled blog publishing; updates to supported posts. Page-builder/custom-field text may need manual edits.
Permissions and prerequisites
WordPress.com/Jetpack: approve account access. Self-hosted: HTTPS, REST API and an Application Password for an Editor or a user allowed to edit other authors’ posts. Exact OAuth scopes are not documented here.
Plan availability
Publishing entitlement: confirm in workspace. Applying website fixes: Scale / Custom.
Limitations
Page-builder content and custom fields can require manual changes. Disconnecting leaves published posts intact. Deletion and automatic refresh of every existing page are not established.
How it works
Confirm the intended connection
Follow the WordPress.com/Jetpack or self-hosted setup documented for your site. Confirm required permissions with the authorized owner.
Review one supported draft
Check destination, body, author, images and publication policy. Treat page-builder, custom, commerce and SEO-plugin fields as separate scope checks.
Approve and inspect the release
Approve the exact item and target, then inspect the public URL on desktop, tablet and phone. Keep unrelated site changes outside the release.
Confirm current support
Capabilities, permissions and plan availability can evolve. Check your current integration screen and the documented limitations above before enabling automation.
Build a WordPress growth workflow around your actual site
Start with a buyer question, approved facts and a named reviewer. Use the WordPress setup you already have rather than treating a new content tool as permission to redesign the theme, replace every plugin or publish across every language. Our recommended first run is one useful article with a checked public destination and a clear business next step.
Fact-checked as of October 22, 2026. This is a documentation-based workflow and our proposed acceptance standard, not evidence of a connected WordPress test or a guaranteed commercial outcome. The guides below disclose Citera’s role as publisher and link product claims to primary sources.
Confirm the hosting, connection and field boundaries
Identify WordPress.com or self-hosted WordPress, the production domain, editor, active SEO plugin and intended publication owner. WordPress.com’s current documentation permits plugins on all paid plans; compatibility and other hosting features remain separate questions. WordPress.com plugins
Citera’s WordPress connection guide distinguishes WordPress.com/Jetpack authorization from the self-hosted route. Page-builder and custom-field body content can require manual work. Confirm the exact destination and required permissions with the site owner; do not assume blog access proves support for every SEO-plugin, commerce or locale field.
Our proposed field contract records what can change, what must remain untouched and what requires a manual owner. Review a long title, sparse record, author, image and supported formatting before expanding the workflow. Keep credentials out of screenshots, public pages and ordinary chat messages.
Keep review, publishing and broader execution deliberate
Citera documents a content calendar and configurable approval controls. Choose the policy intentionally and inspect one resulting public article before scheduling a larger library. Supported CMS fixes and view-only recommendations have different plan boundaries; check the current audit documentation and pricing.
Assign one intended owner for overlapping metadata, canonical and schema output. A connector’s success message is not the same as a factual, correctly rendered page. Our release gate includes source checks, internal links, media, desktop/tablet/phone layouts and the appropriate signup or demo path.
Content, PR, backlinks and social distribution also need explicit scope. Agree the asset, channel, reviewer, delivery evidence and commercial terms. Citera’s separate link-building service is not proof that unlimited managed outreach or placements are included in every software plan.
Connect useful changes to distinct measurements
Our reporting standard separates sampled AI answers, cited URLs, crawler requests, human visits, website clicks and completed business actions. Keep the prompt, language, market and observation dates with a visibility comparison. Keep the receiving application or booking owner responsible for validating downstream completions.
Citera documents Search Console, GA4 and Bing connections. A connected report is not evidence of perfect attribution or a new customer. Record unknowns and owner-dependent checks instead of making up a universal ROI number.

Frequently asked questions
Answers about setup, permissions, automation and availability.
What WordPress workflow should we evaluate Citera for?
Evaluate the documented content calendar and connected blog workflow against your actual host, editor and publication requirements. This hub is documentation-based, not a report of a connected-site test.
How does the WordPress connection differ by hosting setup?
Citera documents WordPress.com/Jetpack authorization and a self-hosted route using HTTPS, REST access and an Application Password. Follow the current setup guide with the authorized site owner; do not share credentials in public content or screenshots.
Does the connection support every plugin or custom field?
Do not assume that. The setup guide identifies manual handling for page-builder/custom-field body content. Confirm SEO-plugin metadata, custom post types, commerce and locale writes individually before approving automation.
How should we verify the first publication?
Use one reviewed item with a named owner. Check the intended publication state, public text, metadata, images, links and responsive layout. Verify website clicks separately from completed signups, bookings or purchases.
