Summary

Citera, formerly known as Rankad.ai, received $250,000 in service credits through Cloudflare for Startups in February 2026, providing infrastructure support for the continued development of our organic growth platform. The programme gives our team access to eligible computing, storage, security and performance services, alongside additional benefits such as three Enterprise domains. For Citera, the value is the opportunity to develop and test the technology behind our platform while reducing the cost of eligible infrastructure.

What is Cloudflare for Startups?

Cloudflare provides infrastructure that helps businesses build, deliver and protect applications on the internet. Its developer platform includes services for running application code, storing information, coordinating background tasks and supporting AI workloads, while its networking and security products help manage traffic and protect online services.

Cloudflare for Startups makes eligible products available to early-stage technology companies through service credits and programme benefits. This gives participating teams access to infrastructure they can use while developing their products, without immediately paying the full cost of every covered service.

Our $250,000 allocation was awarded when we were operating under the Rankad.ai name, before the company’s rebrand to Citera. It represents credits for eligible Cloudflare services rather than a cash investment, and its value comes from the infrastructure usage those credits can cover.

The programme also includes benefits that do not draw down the credit balance, including access to three Enterprise domains. Credits are subject to product-specific limits and a defined usage period, so participation gives us a substantial development resource rather than unlimited access to every Cloudflare product.

Why this matters for what we are building at Citera

Citera connects brand knowledge, market and competitor analysis, AI-search visibility, content creation, website improvements and publishing in one platform. Businesses can use those capabilities to understand where they have opportunities to grow, carry out the work needed to address them and review performance over time, with the option to run workflows on autopilot or retain control over individual decisions.

Our goal is to reduce the distance between finding an opportunity and doing something useful with it. A business should not need to move information between several disconnected tools, write a separate brief for every task and manually coordinate each step before an improvement reaches its website or publishing channels.

Building that kind of product requires more than generating a useful piece of content. The surrounding systems need to handle information consistently, coordinate tasks, communicate with external platforms and make it clear what has happened when something does not go as expected.

That is where infrastructure support becomes relevant. It gives us additional resources to develop the systems around our AI capabilities, rather than focusing only on the output of an individual model.

From identifying an opportunity to completing the work

Consider a business that discovers an important customer question is poorly answered on its website. The appropriate response might be to improve an existing service page, expand a product description or publish a new article, depending on what the business already has and what the customer needs to understand.

A complete workflow would need to assess the existing material, use accurate information about the business, prepare the right update and send it to the appropriate publishing destination. Once the change is live, the business should be able to understand what was updated and evaluate its performance over time.

There are also less visible situations that the software needs to handle. A publishing service might temporarily be unavailable, a task might need another operation to finish first, or a request might fail after an external platform has already accepted it. Simply repeating the same action without checking its status could create duplicate content or leave the customer uncertain about what actually happened.

These are examples of the engineering problems behind the kind of connected automation we are building. Cloudflare’s programme gives us access to services relevant to those problems, although the availability of a service under the programme should not be confused with a claim that it powers every Citera feature.

The Cloudflare capabilities relevant to our development

The most useful way to understand Cloudflare’s developer platform is through the practical work its services can support. For Citera, the relevant categories include application execution, background processing, storage and security.

Running application logic with Cloudflare Workers

Cloudflare Workers allows developers to build and deploy applications across Cloudflare’s network without managing traditional servers themselves. It supports application interfaces, connections to data stores and scheduled work, giving teams a way to develop services without taking responsibility for every part of the underlying server infrastructure.

For an automation product, this type of capability is relevant to the operations connecting a customer’s request with the work required to fulfil it. The development opportunity is to make those operations easier to deploy, monitor and improve, while choosing an approach that suits the actual workload.

Coordinating background tasks with Cloudflare Queues

Cloudflare Queues allows applications to send work for processing separately from the original request, with support for batching, retries and delayed messages. It also supports dead-letter queues, which provide a separate destination for messages that cannot be processed successfully after repeated attempts.

This is relevant to workflows that depend on external services or involve several stages. In an illustrative publishing workflow, a queue could hold a task until it is ready to be processed, while the application checks whether the work succeeded before deciding what should happen next. The important product outcome is a process that can account for interruptions without requiring the customer to reconstruct the situation manually.

Managing files and datasets with Cloudflare R2

Cloudflare R2 provides object storage for files and other unstructured data, including web content, datasets and the output of larger processing tasks. R2 does not charge egress bandwidth fees for transferring data out of the service, although storage and operations remain subject to pricing.

For a product that works with content and analysis, storage decisions affect both the material being produced and the information needed to understand previous work. Access to storage resources creates room to develop those capabilities, but useful implementation still depends on deciding what should be retained, how it should be organised and who should be able to access it.

Supporting availability and protection

Cloudflare’s security offering includes tools that automatically detect and mitigate distributed denial-of-service attacks, which attempt to disrupt services by overwhelming them with traffic. These protections address a different requirement from content generation or analysis: helping keep the underlying application available.

For us, availability belongs alongside the other practical requirements of automation. Customers need to be able to access the product and understand the state of their work, while our team remains responsible for application-level permissions, integration access and the handling of customer information.

How we think about the value of this support

We see the award as a resource for developing the product, rather than a milestone whose value begins and ends with the announcement. Its practical contribution depends on the work it helps us carry out.

Our ambition is to build software that takes on more of the work involved in organic growth without creating an equally large amount of work for the customer to supervise it. That means paying attention to the full process: whether the right information is available, whether an action is appropriate, whether it completes correctly and whether the customer can understand the result.

Infrastructure credits give us additional capacity to pursue that work. Their value is not determined by how many services we add or how quickly we consume the allocation, but by whether the development they support makes the product more useful.

A technically impressive system that does not solve a customer problem is not the objective. We want to use the resources where they contribute to workflows that businesses can rely on in everyday operation.

What this means for Citera customers

The benefit we want customers to experience is continued improvement in the platform itself: more dependable execution, clearer information about completed work and less manual coordination between analysis, content and publishing.

For example, a customer should not need to investigate whether a scheduled update was published successfully or whether an interrupted task needs attention. Our goal is to make those situations easier to understand and manage, while preserving control over what the platform is allowed to do.

The Cloudflare award supports the development behind those ambitions; it is not, by itself, a new customer-facing feature or evidence that a particular performance improvement has already been achieved. The standard we want to be judged against is the quality of the product and the usefulness of the work it delivers.

That also keeps the relationship between infrastructure and organic growth clear. Infrastructure can support the execution of a workflow, but the value of that workflow still depends on choosing the right work and carrying it out well.

Frequently asked questions

Was the Cloudflare support awarded to Citera or Rankad.ai?

The allocation was awarded in February 2026, when we were operating as Rankad.ai. Citera is the name under which we now present and develop the platform, so the original announcement uses our former brand.

Do Citera customers receive the Cloudflare credits or Enterprise benefits?

The award applies to Citera’s participation in the startup programme. It does not mean that every Citera customer receives a separate Cloudflare credit allocation or an Enterprise plan; the intended customer benefit comes through the product development the support enables.

Why does Cloudflare’s website now mention a different maximum allocation?

Cloudflare has since updated its programme and currently advertises awards of up to $350,000. This article refers to the $250,000 allocation awarded to us, rather than the maximum available under newer programme terms. An increase for an existing participant requires a separate assessment and is not automatic.

Building beyond the programme

Because the credits are time-limited, we want the systems developed with their support to remain sensible to operate after the programme ends. That means understanding the cost of a workflow, testing how it behaves as usage increases and choosing infrastructure because it serves the product rather than because credits are available.

We are grateful to Cloudflare for providing resources that support the continued development of Citera. Our focus remains on helping businesses move from understanding their organic growth opportunities to consistently carrying out the work needed to address them.
